A raw soundboard...in good sound.
A raging Elvis at the start of '71.
Soundboards from 1971 are very few....and this is the best 'show' of them all!
Grab it!!

Good show indeed ! Too bad he shortend songs like Polk Salad Annie, You've Lost That Loving Feeling and The Wonder Of You. Highlights are imo Polk Salad Annie (short but physically exhausting for both Elvis, the audience AND listener), Only Believe, Johnny B Good and, although not from the same show, Mystery Train / Tiger Man (see Polk Salad Annie notes above)
Other songs like Sweet Caroline, You Don't Have To Say You Love, There Goes My Everything and Make The Word Go Away are better performed in August '70 than they are here.
Nevertheless a good show, but I would love to see soundboard releases of the February 19th and 22nd 1971 Midnight Shows which would surpass everything else from this season and perhaps many shows from '70 too.

Hey guys. I was just lstening to this cd tonight. Got an original copy back at xmas of it and just now getting around to listening to it. Anyhow, on the final track "Can't Help Falling In Love" the track seems to mess up every now and then. I am assuming all the issues of this import is like that? Can you all please let me know. Thanks

I can't help you here Matt. I got a well sued copy not long ago, an it's scratched so it even skips some numbers (my own fault ). I need to buy myself a cd-doctor.

Hey Chris! Just so happen I had an extra copy of this on cd-r that I found. I listened to the last track "Can't Help Falling In Love" and on this copy it was also messed up. So I am assuming it's like this on all of them buddy

the original reel is a disaster. on 20 october 1978 Joan Deary transferred the reels from the january 1971 recordings to cassettes. some of the tapes were recorded backwards.
that's the reason why Joan Deary decides these recordings are unfit for release.

addition:
track 1-2 >> opening theme - That's all right are from 27-01-71 midnight;
on the CD it's not mentioned that they are from 26-01-71 opening; however the FTD " The impossible dream" is wrong dated and both tracks on the FTD are from 27-01-71 midnight.

Soundsample of "Mystery Train / Tiger Man" added. This is a short but exhausting version ... simply great !

wow...should have noticed Matt's quesrtion long before today
In Can't Help Falling In Love there's a porblem with the original tape.
Great to have a sample of this show..I'm not too keen on the sound mix and I'd have used Blue Suede Shoes because i love the false starts lol

Been playing this disc all morning..really good show, Elvis don't rush the songs, but he does start the next one right when the first song ends, like he's wanting to get the heck out of there..All songs are performed well, except How Great Thou Art..goofs up the intro...and then blue suede shoes..., on the intro, he can't stop laughing and then finally gets it down.
