A heck of an idea for a CD when it was first released.....one that holds up to this day. I believe this was originally released in England on Vinyl back in 1980. It saw a U.S. release on CD in 1991, and I for one was and still am thrilled with it!
Leiber & Stoller are true Rock Legends themselves, cranking out countless hits for Elvis, The Coasters, The Drifters, and many, many others. They were inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1987.
It's amazing to me the amount of quality material these two were able to turn out like assembly line workers. They were/are simply amazing songwriters!
While recording his 1957 Christmas LP, these two guys, present during the recording session, were asked by Elvis to come up with an original Christmas tune and they came up with "Santa Claus Is Back In Town" on the spot! Simply Fantastic!!! What would Christmas be without that Classic?
I think these guys would have made one hell of a Manager/Producer team for the King.
This CD features all of the Leiber/Stoller compositions Elvis recorded during his career:
1. Hound Dog
2. Love Me
3. Loving You
4. Hot Dog
5. I Want to Be Free
6. Jailhouse Rock
7. Treat Me Nice
8. (You're So Square) Baby I Don't Care
9. Santa Claus Is Back in Town
10. Don't
11. Trouble
12. King Creole
13. Steadfast, Loyal and True
14. Dirty, Dirty Feeling
15. Just Tell Her Jim Said Hello
16. Girls! Girls! Girls!
17. Bossa Nova Baby
18. Little Egypt
19. Fools Fall in Love
20. Saved
This CD is long out of print, although, for the life of me, I'll never figure out why. If you come across this in your travels, be sure to pick it up......You'll be VERY GLAD you did!
A 5 out of 5 "King Rating" from me!

They forgot the 1973 recording Three corn patches; Don't has an extra studio intro; the LP versions are in mono.
the cd versions track 14 till 20 are in stereo but some tracks have reversed channels.

Yes, and "If You Don't Come Back" too... And I believe that "She's Not You" should have been on it as well, since it's written by Leiber/Stoller with Doc Pomus. "You're The Boss" was of course added to the upgraded release of this album.
I have the LP and I agree, it's a fine album. Nice to have most of their work on one album. If only Parker hadn't been so greedy, I'm sure we would have had many more Leiber/Stoller songs to consider Elvis classics today...
