This show is often trash talked, but it has it moments where Elvis shines. I have yet to hear a bad version of that's allrigh, Elvis seemd to tret his first hit with respect. Fairytale is a happy song, and i think that's the mood Elvis want's to create. Now over to the superb moments, I really don't want to know is delivered on a gold plate, my favorite song from this concert. Hurt is another high class moment, Elvis really shines when he is allowed to show off his fantastic voice.

Highlights: That's allright (mama),Fairytale,Hurt, I Really don't want to know.

Although this concert has it's good moments (How Great Thou Art, I really Don't Want To Know, Hurt and It's Now Or Never), it still is a sad and below average one.

I listen to 1977 concerts on a very regular basis, and this one is not representative for any of them ! The only other concert from 1977 that I consider equally weak as this one is "Kalamazoo" on April 26th.

@ Einar: Fairytale a happy song ? Please listen again to the lyrics and tell me if you still think that way ! crying.gif

I guess i did not come trough about Fairytale, lyrically it's not a "happy song", but look at the concert, he is a smile trough that number. And the tune is not like example a depressive "and i love you so" or "it's midnight". But ir could be thats just me. laugh.gif

I agree with you that the show itself is not quite up there, but it has it's moments.

The only problem i got with this cd is the sound, one of the worst for soundboards.
Also Charlie Hodges' mic was to loud, overshadowed Elvis' voice on alot of parts.

Maybe because it's a audio copy of the CBS tapes video....
Brad
Yes, that probably has alot to do with it...
First In Line
Got this cd coming to me hopefully later today. I have heard the cd-r version but will now listen to the real deal. I thought myself Elvis did a decent job at both this show and Rapid City, but perhaps I wear rose colored glasses
